Pa. Supreme Court Strikes Down Part of Anti-DUI Statute

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court struck down provisions from the state's anti-DUI statute that require trial courts to oversee installation of ignition interlock devices in motor vehicles owned by repeat drunk drivers. Justices affirmed a lower court's decision that the provisions violate the separation of powers doctrine, but said the ruling does not prevent the commonwealth's executive branch from enforcing remaining portions of the relevant statute on its own.
