Law School Probed on Reverse Discrimination Claims

Seton Hall University School of Law is the focus of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for allegedly discriminating against white law students. Foot-Dragging on Denials May Cost Insurers

Legal malpractice insurers have plenty of legitimate reasons for denying coverage, but a case heading to a New Jersey appeals court warns that a denial won't stick if they take too long to make the decision. At 19 firms surveyed, women made up 37.4 percent of all associates in 2005, down from 41.9 percent last year.

N.J. Supreme Court Draws Line on Public Access to Discovery Data

The general public does not have guaranteed access to discovery documents used in litigation if they have not been filed with the trial court, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled last week. The ruling is a setback for consumer groups that wanted to use the case as a way to allow the public to intervene in litigation and to ask courts to decide whether good cause exists to issue a protective order putting documents under seal, specifically in cases involving public hazards.
