Full Steam Ahead

Total Rewards, a customer-recognition program that keeps millions of personal profiles in a national networked database, is Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment Inc.'s not-so-secret weapon. Austin Powers may have the mojo, but James Bond has the MPAA. Recently the Motion Picture Association of America axed the title of the third installment of the Austin Powers spy spoof series, Goldmember, as being too close to the 1964 Bond classic, Goldfinger.

Neff to Go Around

If there were an all-star team of M&A lawyers, Daniel Neff of New York's Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz would be the utility player, floating from industry to industry. Reviewing the multibillion-dollar deals the 48-year-old partner worked on last year, ranging from the Las Vegas strip and the Texas oil patch to the defense and telecommunications industries, inspires incredulity.
