Lawyers Challenge AGs Subpoenas
If the responses to his administrative subpoenas are any indication, Texas Attorney General John Cornyn could face high hurdles in his investigation of the conduct of the state's five tobacco lawyers. Four lawyers who could have the most relevant information to Cornyn's investigation have challenged the legal foundation for the demands or say the documents are protected by attorney-client privilege.
