Software Shenanigans at the Border

When police raided a Florida warehouse in November 1997, it wasn't drugs or even guns that they found. The bounty included almost 900 fake copies of Microsoft Windows and a pair of knock-off Intel microprocessors. Officers were led to the warehouse by undercover operatives employed by Microsoft. The software giant has an office in Fort Lauderdale dedicated solely to combating software piracy in South Florida and Latin America the only such office in existence outside the company's headquarters.
