After a 2008 trial in which EchoStar won a whopping damages award of $45.69 (no, we're not missing the word "million") on its $2 billion in claims against NDS, the judge nevertheless awarded EchoStar attorneys fees of $13 million (and about $9 million to NDS). But the Ninth Circuit declared NDS the winner of the trial, vacated the EchoStar fee award, and doubled attorneys fees for NDS.
