Tensions Flare Between Judges and ABA

In March, top judiciary officials got wind of a private ABA inquiry into the hot-button issue of whether judges should be barred from attending seminars sponsored by interest groups. The judges' unease culminated in a sharply worded June 6 memo by the head of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, accusing the ABA of "secret activities."
