Philadelphia Lawsuit Prompts National Tire Recall

Alleging that defective tires caused a fatal car accident, attorneys filed a Philadelphia lawsuit against the Chinese tire manufacturer, the tire distributor and the van manufacturer. Then, the distributor alerted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to alleged safety breaches by the tire maker, and filed an $80 million federal suit against the Chinese company. Now, the NHTSA has ordered the distributor to recall up to 450,000 tires, which the distributor says will bankrupt it.
