Utah High Court Reinstates $145M Jury Verdict Against State Farm

The Utah Supreme Court has upheld a $145 million punitive jury verdict to plaintiffs Curtis and Inez Campbell in a massive bad faith judgment against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. over a 1981 car accident. The decision seemingly concludes more than 20 years of litigation over the incident, in which State Farm refused offers to settle the original claim within policy limits, leaving the Campbells liable for damages.
