The graveyard of auction-rate securities claims against Merrill Lynch got a bit more crowded this week, with two decisions in the space of two days dismissing suits by ARS investors. Proposed Limits on Attorney Advertising Attract More Criticism

When four presiding New York justices formulated exceptionally broad ethics rules on attorney advertising last spring, they took the unusual step of delaying implementation of the proposals because they figured such sweeping new limits might generate some comment. Boy, were they right. Associates Survey 2008

Smaller firms often outscore larger ones on our annual survey of midlevel job satisfaction. It may be because a more intimate atmosphere breeds happiness. Maybe it's because associates have more responsibility. Perhaps it's because they have a better chance of making partner. In these charts, firms are grouped roughly according to size. In the first category are firms whose annual gross revenues are too low to qualify for the Am Law 200. These are the smallest firms that took part in our survey. In the second category are Am Law Second Hundred firms?numbers 101-200 on the most recent Am Law 200 survey (July.) In the final category are firms that appear on our most recent Am Law 100 (May) or Global 100 (October 2007) survey. For a full methodology, click here.

Ex-Producer: Lawyer for CNN Worked Against, Not For, Me

Fired CNN producer April Oliver has sued the cable network for defamation, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty over last year's "Valley of Death" broadcast about the Tailwind Report, a covert mission during the Vietnam War. She claims famed First Amendment attorney Floyd Abrams and CNN convinced her that Abrams was basically on her side, representing First Amendment issues, and not conducting a sweeping investigation that, indirectly, would cost her her job. Abrams strongly denies her allegations.
