In 2019, law enforcement learned that two IP addresses associated with the Denison Church of the Nazarene and, its pastor, uploaded images of child pornography online. A search later uncovered a hard drive containing dozens of videos that captured children taking baths in the church offices with the pastor and appellant instructing the children on how to bathe.

Appellant was convicted by a jury of one count of continuous sexual abuse of a young child and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. He appealed, challenging the sufficiency of the evidence and the jury charge, and he argued the convictions violated his double jeopardy rights. With regard to the evidence, the court took note of testimony that the abuse began between the births of two children and continued to occur after a third child's birth.
