8th Circuit Orders New Sentence for Convicted Wal-Mart Exec

The 8th Circuit ruled Tuesday that despite his poor health and good works, former Wal-Mart executive Thomas Coughlin got off too easy after admitting to felony wire fraud and tax evasion charges. If anything, the court said, Coughlin's standing in his community made his crimes appear worse. The appellate court rejected a term for Coughlin that included only home detention and probation, and directed U.S. District Judge Robert T. Dawson in Arkansas to resentence Coughlin.
