Court Sides With McGinnis, Lochridge in Disqualification Dispute
Pat Lochridge (pictured) persuaded Austin's 3rd Court of Appeals to deny the plaintiff's petition for writ of mandamus that sought to disqualify McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore from representing Brown McCarroll in a legal-malpractice suit. McGinnis' statement alleges that, after an investigation, the firm found Armstrong made unauthorized withdrawals from "a checking account held by a client of the firm." Roy Q. Austin lawyer-lobbyist Gaylord Armstrong resigned his position at McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore on July 1. In a July 15 filing with the Texas Ethics Commission, the Texas Consumer Finance Association Political Action Committee reported five expenditures listing Armstrong as payee and labeled as "unauthorized withdrawal[s]," totaling $125,500.
