A prominent group of litigators left Irell & Manella's Los Angeles office Monday to launch their own boutique -- the third spinoff from a major firm in the last few months in a trend that appears to be prompted by client rate pressure. The attorneys who launched Kendall Brill & Klieger brought with them huge clients Viacom, CBS and Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, among others. Richard Kendall says his new firm will offer incentive-based billing arrangements to serve both client and firm interests.
