In July, when Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that prosecutors had bullied KPMG over legal fees, the government's case against the accounting firm imploded, but the case against tax lawyer Raymond "R.J." Ruble may just be heating up. Ruble, a former partner at Brown & Wood (now Sidley Austin), faces trial in October on 43 counts of tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud the IRS. The former producing partner of action movie star Steven Seagal has sued the law firm of Loeb & Loeb for $25 million, alleging malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty. Julius R.
