High Court Turns Down Counterfeiting Case

The Supreme Court on Monday turned down an appeal by Lorillard Tobacco Co. in a trademark infringement case that some business groups considered critical to the fight against counterfeit goods. Both Lorillard and the National Association of Manufacturers, which filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the case, said the case was important to the fight against fake products, which the company said in court papers costs U.S. businesses $200 billion to $250 billion per year.
