South Korean Workers Strike Against U.S. Free Trade Agreement

South Korea's largest labor union escalated protests Thursday against the country's free trade agreement with the U.S. as the two governments tried to make last-minute changes before the deal's scheduled June 30 signing. The 150,000-member Korean Metal Workers' Union reported that between 110,000 and 120,000 members walked off the job for four hours. The two governments say the agreement will boost trade between the two close allies, but opponents say the deal will squeeze workers in both countries.
