Judge Criticizes Attorneys' Role in Discrimination-Related Probe

Several Littler Mendelson corporate attorneys are contesting a U.S. magistrate judge's recommendation that they be publicly reprimanded for their alleged involvement in a covert investigation in a racial discrimination suit. The probe involved hiring private investigators to pose as employees at a truck plant to find out if racial hostility existed at the plant. The judge also recommended reprimands for International Truck's in-house counsel and for a now-retired general counsel.
