A White Knights' Tale

In 1994, a detective in a small town in Washington state uncovered a child sex ring involving 60 children who were allegedly sexually abused by community members. Twenty-eight people were convicted. But, the claims were so extensive that a Seattle paper investigated. In 1998, the paper published articles alleging that many of the individuals may have been wrongly accused. The paper rallied public outrage and galvanized the Seattle criminal defense bar to form one of the largest pro bono efforts in history.
