In this year's Midlevel Associates Survey, Arnold & Porter earned the highest score of any Am Law 100 firm, and the third-highest overall. Law Firm Mergers Show 'Bigger Is Better' Theory Prevails

The number of law firm mergers in 2005 topped that of 2004, with international and large-scale deals representing a big piece of the action. Forty-nine law firm mergers occurred in 2005, according to Hildebrandt International's survey. Although the number of 2005 deals did not drastically differ from the 2004 total, the size of the firms merging was definitely greater. It all adds up to a legal market that continues to be influenced by a bigger-is-better strategy.
