Federal prosecutors in New Jersey are going after four men who are charged with illegally obtaining and then reselling more than a million tickets to concerts, sporting events and live entertainment in a computer hacking scheme that the government says defrauded Ticketmaster and other vendors. The performances included concerts starring Bruce Springsteen, Hannah Montana and Billy Joel, in addition to such major sporting events as the 2006 Rose Bowl and 2007 Major League Baseball play-off games.

At a Michael Jackson concert in Madison Square Garden, Dana Gross found herself the unlucky holder of a ticket that let her hear the show but not see it. Gross and her friends -- and perhaps 7,800 other fans at two concerts in 2001 -- were seated behind apparent sets for the show -- which, Gross' lawyer says, completely obstructed the stage. Gross' luck has changed somewhat, now that a New York judge has allowed her suit against Ticketmaster to go forward as a class action.

The suit seeks a court order protecting its patent and awarding unspecified damages.
