The state Supreme Court, having forged a constitutionally driven mandate to fund poor, inner-city schools, may be poised to declare unconstitutional the Legislature’s chosen means to pay for it.

In a closely watched case argued last Wednesday, taxpayer advocates took issue with the state’s decision to use the Economic Development Authority to sell $8.6 billion in bonds to pay for Court-ordered construction of school facilities for 30 poor, primarily urban, districts.
