In Rivera v. Coote, a man whose leg was amputated after his motorcycle collided with a car was paid a $2.475 million presuit settlement on March 20.

On Nov. 23, 2015, Alexander Rivera was riding at the intersection of Ward Place and South Orange Avenue in South Orange when he was struck by a car driven by Vernica Coote. Rivera was proceding on Ward Place when Coote, traveling in the opposite direction, made a left turn in his path, said plaintiff lawyer Andrew Renda Jr. of Renda & Voynick in Cedar Grove.
