A motorist who suffered spinal injuries that necessitated surgery in a rear-end crash was paid $2 million on Oct. 13 in a suit that settled earlier this year.

In June 2013, Xingquan Gu, then 50, was driving on U.S. Route 22 in Bridgewater. When he slowed for traffic, another motorist, Margot Chowansky, failed to stop and struck Gu from behind, according to Gu’s attorney, Nicholas Leonardis of Stathis & Leonardis in Edison.
