Mercer and Camden counties have the highest vacancy rates for Superior Court judges in the state. In Mercer, nearly half the county’s 15 allotted positions are empty, with seven vacancies. In Camden, six out of 24 positions have gone unfilled for months.

The acting director of the Administrative Office of the Courts, Appellate Division Judge Glenn Grant, warned New Jersey lawmakers in April that the problems caused by vacancies could be exacerbated starting next year if the positions remained unfilled.
