In Wilson v. New Jersey Transit, seven current and former New Jersey Transit employees settled their Essex County racial discrimination suit against the agency for $3.65 million.

The complaint asserted hostile work environment claims: racial insults and an incident where a supervisor placed a cord around an African-American employee’s neck like a noose in front of other employees. The complaint also asserted a pattern and practice of race discrimination in pay, promotions, job assignments and career path progression.
