A 67-year-old woman who experienced complications during a prolapse surgery and hysterectomy agreed to a $6.25 million settlement in her Monmouth County suit, Fecho v. Greenleaf, on Feb. 11.

Patricia Fecho of Waretown underwent surgery on Sept. 29, 2011, at Monmouth Medical Center for treatment of minor urinary incontinence. During the surgery, which was performed robotically, complications arose due to a tear of her transverse colon, according to plaintiff lawyers Peter Chamas and Robert Adinolfi. Fecho developed a systemic infection and had to undergo multiple surgical procedures. Since then she is required to use a colostomy bag and suffers from malabsorption, which requires frequent intravenous treatment for dehydration, according to Chamas and Adinolfi.
