Wells Fargo Bank is not liable to an elderly account holder for failing to notify authorities of a scam that cost her $330,000, an Atlantic County judge has ruled.

A New Jersey statute permitting banks to release customers’ account information to police or other government agencies when they suspect elder fraud does not create an affirmative duty to make such reports, the judge ruled in a published decision.
