The New Jersey Devils have been hit with a putative class action claiming the team violates state law by restricting the resale of individual tickets by season ticket holders.

The team designates Ticketmaster as its exclusive ticket reseller, and cancels season tickets or imposes extra fees when fans resell tickets by other means, including the website StubHub, according to the suit. The team’s restrictions on resales violate explicit protections to ticket holders’ rights under New Jersey statutes to sell their seats without encumbrances, according to the suit, Olsen v. New Jersey Devils.
