The parents of a child born with a congenital brain malformation received a judge’s approval on March 11 of a $6 million settlement in their Camden County medical malpractice suit over the alleged failure to diagnose the condition during prenatal tests.

In Kauffman v. Davis,Denise and David Kauffman filed suit over the alleged failure to diagnose the condition in their son, Christopher, in 2011. Defendant George Davis, a maternal fetal medicine specialist, agreed to pay $5 million, and obstetrician Dipak Delvadia agreed to pay $1 million. The settlement was approved by Superior Court Judge Michael Kassel.
