A federal judge in Newark has dismissed the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s suit accusing a Florida pizzeria of trademark infringement for having a logo that mimics the signs for the Garden State Parkway.

Jersey Boardwalk Pizza Corp. may offer “authentic Italian food from Jersey,” but it lacks sufficient contacts with New Jersey to make it subject to personal jurisdiction in New Jersey, U.S. District Judge William Martini of the District of New Jersey ruled March 26. While Jersey Boardwalk has sold some branded merchandise to New Jersey residents from its website, arguably due to the publicity surrounding the lawsuit, those sales make up a minute portion of the company’s business, Martini ruled.
