A North Bergen, N.J., woman who was left with permanent brain damage after a radiologist allegedly failed to properly read a CAT scan and an MRI will receive $3 million in compensation in Leiva v. Del Arca.

Plaintiff Mirian Leiva, now 54, and her sister and guardian, Teresa Leiva, agreed to the settlement with the carriers for the defendants, Dr. Hernan Del Arca, Palisades Radiology Associates and Palisades Medical Center on Dec. 8 after a hearing before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Joseph Turula, according to Leiva’s attorney, Michael Zerres.
