New Jersey has gone on the offensive to squelch a federal suit by sports leagues over a law allowing betting at racetracks and casinos.
In a dismissal motion filed Sept. 7 with U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp in Newark, the state says the leagues have no standing to sue because they fail to allege an injury-in-fact.
