The sponsor of a bill that would restrict state courts’ application of foreign law has had second thoughts, now that the bill has drawn fierce criticism from the local Muslim community.
Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi, R-Bergen, said on Wednesday she was planning to withdraw the bill and re-work it. Her decision came after she met with Arab and Muslim leaders Feb. 28 and again on March 4.
