Car-rental company Hertz Global Holdings Inc. of Park Ridge announced on July 17 that it has paid $250 million and assumed $680 million of debt to acquire fleet-leasing firm Donlen of Northbrook, Ill., valuing the deal at about $930 million. Hertz was represented by Thomas Monson of Jenner & Block in Chicago, Donlen by Rodd Schreiber, David Levy, and David Midvidy of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York, N.Y.

Janssen Sells Ortho Unit

Pharmaceutical company Janssen of Titusville, a division of Johnson & Johnson, announced on July 15 the sale of its Ortho Dermatologics unit, maker of Retnin-A and other prescription dermatological medicines, to Valeant Pharmaceuticals International of Durham, N.C., for $345 million in cash.
