The New Jersey Supreme Court has once again agreed to hear an appeal addressing the circumstances in which settling parties can subsequently sue their own lawyers for malpractice.

On Wednesday, it announced the grant of certification in Gere v. Louis, A-78-10, on the issue of whether Red Bank lawyer John DeBartolo can be sued by a client who replaced him before settling a property dispute with her former spouse, in an agreement that reserved her right to sue prior counsel.
