Ownership has its privileges when it comes to blight determinations in New Jersey. Property owners must get notice of the city’s action, but renters need not, the state Supreme Court says.

Like the swing of a wrecking ball, the Court’s decision Wednesday in Iron Mountain Information Management Inc. v. Newark, A-100-08, dashed a Newark company’s hope of challenging a blight designation as a defense should a condemnation action be brought.
