Going Nowhere Soon — Outgoing Gov. Jon Corzine abruptly withdrew Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor‘s nomination for a second, five-year term late Wednesday, just hours before Taylor was to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for his confirmation hearing. But, Taylor and his ally, Sen. Jefferson Van Drew, D-Cape May, say he’s not packing up his personal belongings just yet.

Van Drew says that the governor withdrew the Democrat’s nomination as part of a deal with the incoming GOP governor, Chris Christie, to ensure that the nominations of several of his close associates — including that of Chief Counsel Edward McBride Jr. to the Superior Court bench — would not be blocked by Republicans angry that Corzine has gone on a nomination spree in his last days in office.
