Associate Justice Alan B. Handler, a prolific judge and former member of the New Jersey Supreme Court who authored an Appellate Division opinion that gave females the right to play Little League baseball in the state, died Thursday. He was 92.

Handler served on the state high court for more than 22 years. He was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court by Gov. Brendan T. Byrne, and the justice served on the bench from 1977 to 1999, much of that time under then-Chief Justice Robert N. Wilentz.
