New Jersey attorney Amanda S. Haines has been named the first female executive director of the state’s Election Law Enforcement Commission, following the retirement of the agency’s longtime leader, Jeffrey Brindle.

Haines is the sixth person and the first female to lead the ELEC. She began serving on May 4. Brindle retired in October after serving as executive director for 15 years. Joseph Donohue, the agency’s deputy director, served as interim acting executive director.
