Civil and matrimonial trials remain suspended in four New Jersey counties and the number of Superior Court vacancies has risen to a total of 61. Meanwhile, judicial observers speculate that the state of the bench may not change until November, and some say they sense a lack of urgency on the matter from the other two branches of government.

Last February, Chief Justice Stuart Rabner announced that all civil and matrimonial trials would be suspended in both Vicinage 13, which covers Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren counties, and Vicinage 15, which covers Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.
