Incredibly, the unconscionable delay and even total absence of civil and matrimonial trials in several vicinages persists, the clear result of the continued failure of the appointing authorities—the governor and the Senate—to do their job. We agree with the words chosen by the New Jersey State Bar Association president to describe what is taking place: “absurd”; “reprehensible.”

The result is predictable. Litigants sustain uncompensated losses. Equitable remedies cannot be timely administered, adjusted or dropped. Matrimonial custody/visitation fights stretch out unresolved, victimizing children. Justice is delayed, denied. The chief justice has needed to close down trial schedules and has complained, but no one in power is listening.
