New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and Division of Law Director Michael T.G. Long have issued a request for qualifications for special counsel for complex litigation and counseling and insurance coverage matters.

New Jersey frequently hires law firms as outside counsel to represent the state in litigation, bond, and other legal matters. The RFQ will lead to a list of qualified firms from which retention decisions will be made. The special counsel designation term will be from the time that a firm is notified it has been designated and approved until a new list of firms is designated and approved in the same practice area, according to a press release.
