New Jersey’s governor and attorney general announced that the state’s 21 counties and 241 municipalities eligible for direct distributions have joined in signing the nationwide opioid settlement agreements, which means the state is on track to receive the maximum amount available of $508.1 million.

Gov. Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced the signing of the agreements with pharmacy chains CVS, Walgreens and Walmart and drug makers Teva Pharmaceuticals and Allergan to resolve claims involving their alleged roles in the opioid crisis, according to a press release. The settlement amount due to each state depends on the level of participation among eligible county and municipal governments.
