The New Jersey Appellate Division affirmed a set of Middlesex Superior Court rulings granting summary judgment to the New Jersey State Judiciary, the Essex Vicinage, and several individuals in an employment disability discrimination and retaliation case brought under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination by a former judiciary employee.

The plaintiff in this case, Chidi Onukogu, worked as a financial specialist in the Essex Vicinage since 2000 and had a disciplinary history, according to the opinion. One incident in January 2014 resulted in Onukogu receiving a Preliminary Notice of Major Disciplinary Action for violation of judicial policies and directives by failing to report that he received a notice to appear in court for his pending divorce case. He was suspended for one day for the violation.
