The New Jersey Appellate Division found no abuse of discretion in an award of attorney fees and costs to a Camden County corrections officer after a jury trial awarded him compensatory damages for his suspension from work.

A 12-day jury trial resulted in a verdict in favor of PBA trustee and president Patrick Cornely for violation of his rights under the New Jersey Civil Rights Act for his 60- and 120-day suspensions from work, according to the opinion. The Camden County Corrections Department suspended Cornely for what were determined to be “union-protected activities as a PBA Trustee and President.”
