A woman who suffered spinal injuries and a traumatic brain injury when her car was struck from behind agreed to a $1.275 million settlement in her Bergen County suit, Abdelsalam v. Cappucci, on Oct. 1.

Alisa Abdelsalam was driving north on Route 208 in Franklin Lakes on July 9, 2018, when her car was struck from behind by a car driven by Patsy Cappucci of Butler. The impact caused Abdelsalam’s car to spin across the highway and strike the concrete median. After the crash, Abdelsalam complained of neck pain as well as pain in her lower back, wrist and head, with abdominal pain, headaches and shortness of breath, said her attorney, Adam Lederman of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon in Teaneck. She received physical therapy for her spinal injuries, and steroid injections in her back and neck. When that failed to relieve her pain, she had a three-level lumbar fusion, from L4 to S1, in November 2019, according to Lederman.
