The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved a supplemental bill making clarifications to the cannabis legalization legislation in order for Gov. Phil Murphy to sign it—more than a week after it was scheduled to be enacted.

The 11-member committee—minus Sen. Christopher “Kip” Bateman, R-Somerset, who was absent from the remote hearing—voted 7-3 along party lines to advance S-3320. Seven Democrats voted “yes” and three Republicans voted “no” on the so-called “chaser bill,” intended to provide the fixes Murphy wants before signing off on the main bill.
