Brand new associates at many of the nation’s largest law firms earn double what experienced local prosecutors, public defenders, legal aid attorneys and public interest lawyers bring in on average.
A new survey of public interest attorney compensation by the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) found that public service salaries have seen only modest growth over the past 14 years, and those salaries continue to be dwarfed by the pay offered in Big Law.
