New Jersey's courts, largely shuttered on Monday because of the state Legislature's failure to enact a budget until the early morning hours of the July 4 holiday, opened for business as usual on Wednesday.
Chief Justice Stuart Rabner late Tuesday rescinded an order he issued two days earlier closing most judiciary operations because of the budget dispute between Republican Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto.
In his Tuesday order, Rabner said Monday would be treated as a legal holiday for purposes of tolling statutes of limitations and other deadlines.
